Corporate History
Chinowth & Cohen Realtors is a company steeped in tradition. Sheryl Chinowth was born and raised in the
real estate industry. A family of real estate professionals, Sheryl became a top producer in 1979 when interest
rates were at their highest. Besides sales, Sheryl taught and trained associates, helped her family business manage
offi ces and closing departments, worked with major relocation corporations and their corporate moves and helped
design advertising and marketing. Branching away from a family business of 60 years, she came to Tulsa in 1996.
In just a few short years, Sheryl became a top producing associate in the State of Oklahoma. Sheryl has two sons
who also live in Tulsa.
Lee Cohen came from an extensive background in real estate. At a young age Lee's interest was peaked by his
grandfather, a realtor, who purchased and sold real estate in Manhattan where Lee was raised. At the age of 27,
Lee was an owner of a commercial real estate company and at the age of 30 developed and owned a property
management company in Florida. Commercial real estate seemed to be Lee's forte and in 1993 Lee developed
a REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) which he took Public and sold in 1996. With an MBA in business, Lee
was a Director of NORES (Northeastern Real Estate Services) and a former Director of GTAR (Greater Tulsa
Association of Realtors) as well as past Chairman of the CID Board (Commercial Industry Development).
Reaching top levels in residential real estate in a short amount of time in 2003, Lee and Sheryl began the Chinowth
Group Inc., a small group of associates that grew into a large group capturing the higher end market in residential
and commercial real estate. Sheryl developed a marketing plan for homes that worked as an assistance program
for associates. This unique program allows an associate to devote even more time to their clients and still maintain
a high standard of marketing and communication, with licensed staff working as assistants to each associate.
The open-mindedness of combining commercial and residential real estate fulfills a need previously unavailable
in Tulsa. Working together, one stimulates the growth of the other. Whether an executive needs a home first or
an office first, both can be achieved through one highly professional company! Whether a builder needs a lot or
